The Gabriel Ash RHS Grand Portico Planthouse is a stunning addition to their prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)-endorsed range, designed for gardeners who seek elegance, functionality, and durability. This planthouse offers a perfect blend of form and function, suitable for growing delicate plants, entertaining guests, or simply creating a peaceful garden retreat. It’s not just a greenhouse—it’s a statement of sophistication and commitment to quality gardening.

This glasshouse features robust construction with Canadian Western Red Cedar, celebrated for its natural resistance to weathering and decay.   The structure has an eaves height of 6’8″ (2054mm) and a ridge height of 13’7″ (4154mm).  Each greenhouse is meticulously handmade to order in England, using Canadian red cedar for the main frame. This timber not only boasts beautiful, reddish wood grain but is also ideal for outdoor use due to its natural resistance to weathering.

Base:
The greenhouse is supplied with an aluminium base plinth as standard.

Doors:
The RHS Grand Portico Planthouse is supplied with double hinged doors as standard on a front gable.

Glass:
Toughened safety glass to BS6206 is fitted as standard to all Gabriel Ash greenhouses.

Roof Vents & Louvres:
The Gabriel Ash range of greenhouses do not have roof vents, but rather, sash windows to the sides of the greenhouse.  The number increases with the size of greenhouse (please note the following are nominal sizes).

• 15ft & 17ft long with six sash windows
• 20ft, 22ft, 25ft with ten sash windows

Louvres can be added to your order according to your preferences.

Automatic Ventilation:
The Classic and RHS collections are supplied with unique ridge automatic ventilation.  Gabriel Ash Classic and RHS greenhouses have a unique automatic ridge ventilation system which runs the full ridge length of your greenhouse. This provides ventilation at the highest point in the greenhouse where it is needed. This system is operated automatically by wax filled actuators. When it is warm the wax in the cylinders expands pushing the vent up.  As above, louvres can also be added to increase ventilation, if required.

Shelving/Staging:
The RHS Deluxe Folding Cedar Shelving and staging is made from solid Western Red Cedar and is usually positioned along the rear of the structure.  The shelving is positioned at eye-level and the staging as waist/kitchen counter height.  Both the staging and shelving can be folded away when not required, maximising the internal space.  Please Note: On all structures with a Dwarf Wall the folding staging will not fold down. This still allows for a large amount of storage under the staging.

Rainwater Collection:
The greenhouse is provided with metal gutters and 1½” (40mm) downpipes that collect rainwater from the roof, preventing runoff and allowing for efficient collection.  These standard aluminium pipes are easily adapted to fit water butts.

Panelling:
Cedar base panels are standard with the RHS Grand Glasshouse, though the greenhouse can also be modified to be fitted to a dwarf wall.

Fixings:
High quality solid brass and stainless steel fixtures.

Blinds:
The Gabriel Ash roller blinds are grey in colour and are specifically designed for greenhouse use, offering a combination of practical shading and easy functionality. These blinds are crafted from durable synthetic materials and are made to fit neatly within Gabriel Ash’s greenhouse structures. This helps to maintain a cooler interior environment, which protects plants from excessive heat during warmer months.

These blinds use a spring-loaded mechanism for convenient adjustment, allowing for flexibility in temperature and light control. They are tailored to fit the cedar framework of Gabriel Ash’s greenhouse models, and are part of their RHS-endorsed collection, aligning with high standards in quality and eco-conscious materials.

Treatment:
Western Red Cedar contains its own natural preservatives, giving your greenhouse a long life span without the need for treatment. Cedar will mellow to a silvery grey over time; if you wish to prevent your greenhouse from greying and maintain or change its original colour we can provide treatments or there are several proprietary brands on the market that are suitable. Western Red Cedar absorbs stains and oils readily. Should you choose to treat your Classic or RHS greenhouse you will not need to get up on the roof of your greenhouse since these are protected by aluminium cappings.

Warranty:
The greenhouse is provided with a 12-year warranty.
